Owing to the ongoing DRAM and storage price hikes, many OEMs have had to jack up prices, or even cancel product lines altogether. Aoostar is no exception, with the company having recently revealed new variants of its high-end Nex395 mini PC with half the RAM and no storage.

Aoostar launched the Nex395 towards the end of last year, featuring the powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo APU. The product then witnessed a Chinese launch, priced at around $2,100 back then for the variant with 2 TB of storage and 128 GB RAM. This was, of course, prior to the massive hikes in RAM prices.

It appears that the company is now offering a variant of the Nex395 mini PC with 64 GB of RAM instead of 128 GB, along with a 1 TB SSD. A new variant with no storage is also available.

This was done most likely in response to the ongoing DRAM shortages, with the mini PC now starting at around 12,999 Yuan, which is roughly $1,930 for the 1TB variant and around 11,999 Yuan, roughly $1,785 for the variant without an SSD.

The rest of the mini PC appears to be mostly identical. The I/O offer has also been left untouched, which has been detailed below:

  • Dual USB4 Type-C
  • Dual 2.5G Ethernet
  • Triple USB A 3.2 Gen 2, single USB Type-A
  • HDMI, DisplayPort
  • 3.5mm audio jack
The Nex395 mini PC is powered by a powerful 16-core AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU.

The gaming mini PC still boasts the 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU

The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU features a 16-core setup consisting solely of Zen 5 cores. This allows the powerful Strix Halo APU to perform at the same level as an Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX in multi-threaded benchmarks such as Cinebench 2026.

The RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 8060S iGPU, on the other hand, features a 40 CU setup. In synthetic benchmarks, the iGPU manages to keep up with an RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, which is definitely quite impressive for an integrated part.

Given that the system now comes with half the RAM, which is not user upgradable, customers who prefer to run massive LLMs locally will be rather disappointed. Folks who simply want a powerful mini PC for gaming and typical intensive tasks will most likely be perfectly satisfied with 64 GB of RAM.

While Aoostar does have a global presence, the Nex395 mini PC never witnessed a launch in the US. With that in mind, it is unclear if the 64 GB variant will ever hit the global scene either.

Of course, folks who do not mind the hassle of importing one can still do so. Others who would rather buy a powerful mini PC straight off Amazon can check out the GMKtec EVO X2, currently available for $2,199.
