Amazon may announce a new multimodal AI model soon
Amazon is working on a new multimodal AI model codenamed 'Olympus' that it may announce soon. The Information (via Reuters) reports the new model can process images and videos and look for specific visual scenes based on textual input.
The sources told The Information that Amazon wants to reduce its reliance on Anthropic's Claude. Amazon has invested $8 billion into the US-based AI startup in exchange for a minority stake and becoming the primary cloud service and training partner.
The two companies are working closely to improve Amazon's Trainium and Inferentia AI chips. Anthropic's Claude chatbot is integrated into Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Bedrock. Amazon initially made a $4 billion investment in Anthropic last year in September and poured another $4 billion in November this year.
According to the report, 'Olympus' can search for images or scenes based on simple text prompts like a winning baseball shot. Amazon may announce the model as soon as next week, as per The Information's sources.
