Amazon has launched new 'Nova' foundational models as part of the company's Bedrock services library. Bedrock is an enterprise service that offers a series of AI foundation models from companies like Anthropic, Meta, Mistral AI, Stablility AI, and more.
Three models are available now - Nova Micro, Nova Lite, and Nova Pro. Nova Premier will be added in early 2025. Nova Micro is a low-cost, text-only model built for low-latency responses. Nova Lite can process image, video, and text inputs, while Nova Pro offers a "combination of accuracy, speed, and cost for a wide range of tasks."
Nova Premier (Q1 2025) will be tuned for complex reasoning tasks. Amazon says these models are "at least 75 percent less expensive than the best performing models in their respective intelligence classes in Amazon Bedrock."
Amazon also announced two content generation models - Nova Canvas and Nova Reel. Canvas is an image generation model, and Reel can generate six-second videos from simple prompts or images. This will gradually expand to two-minute videos "in the coming months."
The company said it will launch two more models in the first quarter of 2025. One of them will be a speech-to-speech model to enable "conversational AI applications," and a "native multimodal-to-mutimodal model," that can perform "a wide variety of tasks," like translating content from one modality to another, content editing, and more.
