Alienware x16 R2 review – Not a Real Alienware but a Great Workstation
Source: Laptop Media English
Sorry, this is not a real Alienware. But let’s start with the positives. Alienware x16 R2 is a mind-blowingly thin laptop which is a rare find. Most of the build is made of metal and there is a soft rubberized finish on the palm rests which feels nice. The hinges seem stable and the overall chassis rigidness is on point. The optional Cherry keyboard is a good choice for gaming and the small illuminated glass touchpad is accurate. The 1600p IPS display transforms this laptop into a multipurpose workstation. The screen is ideal for gaming since it has a 240Hz refresh rate and fast pixel response times of 7 ms. This panel is a wet dream for content creators. It covers fully the DCI-P3 gamut and if you apply our “Design and Gaming” profile, it’ll enhance the color accuracy to an average dE result of just 0.6 which is a superb score.

79% Alienware X16 R2 Review: Not quite an upgrade
Source: Think Digit English
The presence of an NPU on-board makes the Alienware X16 R2 future-proof and capable of accelerating AI-related tasks. However, as far as gaming is concerned, an NPU brings nothing to table, at least right now. If anything, they’re slowing down raw CPU performance which is dropping gaming performance. We’ll let you decide whether or not that makes sense for a gaming laptop. Last year we saw the release of Dell’s new super sleek and slim Alienware X16 series with the launch of the Alienware X16 R1. For 2024, we’ve got the Alienware X16 R2, featuring Intel’s new Meteor Lake processors. In terms of externals, the Alienware X16 R2 looks identical to the R1, so it’s only the internals that have seen a change.

80% Alienware x16 R2 review
Source: Tom's Guide English
Dell's Alienware x16 R2 ($2,099 to start) is the archetypal gaming laptop, gobbling up cash and belching out frames per second. It's heavy. The battery life's not great. The fans on our review unit are as loud as the RGB lighting and at $3,199 (as configured) it's a heady investment to pour into mashing pixels together. But it's also cool (metaphorically), coupling readily customizable aesthetics with performant hardware in a sleek package that looks and feels fun. Between the honeycomb-grille patterns, extensive (excessive? never) RGB lighting and loud fans the machine screams "gamer," which isn't going to be to everyone's tastes.

The Alienware x16 R2 costs a pretty penny, but it delivers what you want in this tier. However, you'll find a few even more powerful options, mostly for more money, though the Editors’ Choice Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 16 stands alone on the power-per-dollar front. However, the x16 R2 is more concerned with the overall package than value (and, dare we say, even performance). Among Alienware’s gaming laptops, the m16 R2 is a better solution for most shoppers, with a portable design and less of a price premium, while the x16 R2 aims for enthusiasts. If you want the absolute best performance, you can do a bit better than this system, but we can't deny its sleek marriage of style, portability, and power to anyone with the cash to burn.

80% Alienware x16 R2 review: High-end gaming at a premium price
Source: PC World English
The Alienware x16 R2 is a polished 16-inch gaming laptop with a good-lucking design, a nice all-metal chassis with great build quality, lots of customizable LEDs, and a collection of ports smartly placed on the back of the laptop. The mechanical keyboard on our review model felt great, too. It’s also very customizable with a wide range of different CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage options, and the configuration of our review model delivered great performance with excellent cooling. There are a few weak points: You’ll find brighter displays elsewhere, and the lack of HDR support within games does feel like a shame at this high price point. Neither are deal-breakers, but they’d be nice to have upgrades on a premium gaming laptop.

80% Alienware x16 R2 review: A gaming champion with a few gaps in its armor
Source: Laptop Mag English
Alienware pumps out champions, and most of the time those champions cost thousands of dollars. The Apple-esque tax aside, the Alienware x16 R2 shows its worth with incredible performance, a clicky keyboard, long battery life, and stable cooling. However, the price gives me pause when I see a display that resembles one on a machine that costs roughly $1,800 less. No, seriously, you can get the Legion 5 Pro for under $1,400 and it features a nearly identical display (165Hz instead of 240Hz). It’s slightly dimmer but more colorful. One of the most important parts of a gaming laptop is the display, so it's sad to see that the Alienware couldn't impress with the one it offers.

16.00":

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.

The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.

2.72 kg:

With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.

Alienware: Alienware was founded in the USA in 1996. The European headquarters is located in Ireland. Alienware has been part of the Dell Group since 2006. The product range mainly focuses on gaming laptops and desktops, which are developed and manufactured by Dell. The trademark is a slightly futuristic design with an Alien as the logo. Additionally, workstations for private and business customers are sold.

As with every brand, there are also some points of criticism with Alienware. Some customers have complained about the high prices of the products, while others have criticized the quality of customer services. There have also been some reports of problems with the reliability and durability of some Alienware products. However, many customers have also had positive experiences with the brand and appreciate the powerful gaming computers.

77.8%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
