Alcatel has unveiled the 7-inch OneTouch PIXI 7 ultra low cost slate at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this week, offering the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system to budget conscious users looking for a new tablet priced below $120.

According to the official press release, the PIXI 7 "is one of the thinnest and lightest 7 inch tablets," since it weighs only 0.63 pounds and is less than 0.39 inches thin. These are the main specs and features of the Alcatel OneTouch PIXI 7 Android tablet:

  • Processor: dual-core 1.2 GHz MediaTek MTK8117
  • Memory/Storage: 512 MB for EMEA and 1 GB for LATAM; 4 GB internal storage with microSD support up to 32 GB
  • Display: 7-inch QHD TFT with 960X540 pixels
  • Cameras: 0.3 MP front, 0.3 MP back
  • Connectivity: WiFi, IR port, Miracast support
  • Operating system: Android 4.4 KitKat
  • Battery: 2,840 mAh for up to 4 hours browsing time
  • Colors: Bluish Black and Gun Gray

Color skins, folio cases and bumper cases, as well as various other optional accessories will be available depending on region. The slate will hit the stores in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa starting in July. Availability and pricing for LATAM have not been announced yet.
