Alcatel has certainly stepped up its game lately. The French company's Evo 8 HD tablet has some innovative ideas particularly with its accessories, and this trend continues with the Alcatel One Touch Hero phablet.
The Hero features a 6-inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display, an unspecified 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, a stylus, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, a 13 MP back-facing camera, a microSD slot, Android 4.2, and a large 3400 mAh battery.
While the phone itself is certainly a premium device, it isn't something we haven't seen before, and shares many features with the Galaxy Note line from Samsung or the Xperia Z Ultra from Sony. However, this newest addition to the One Touch line really shines when it comes to accessories.
Most prominent is the E Ink cover that allows the user to read long documents more comfortably, see their screen clearly even in direct sunlight, and to drastically improve battery life. But also impressive is the Pico Projector/phone stand that allows the smartphone to project movies, presentations, or images on surfaces of up to 70 inches. Other accessories include a wireless charging cover, and a flip cover with LED notifications.
The One Touch Hero is expected to launch in October of this year. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
