Xiaomi has officially launched the Sound Play globally, and this affordable wireless speaker stands as a proper competitor to the JBL Grip. The rated peak output power is 18W, and the company claims that the driver setup is capable of offering an immersive audio experience.
The design is somewhat similar to the premium Xiaomi Sound Party, with the Sound Play coming with 3D ambient lighting that can sync with the beat. There's support for TWS pairing, allowing users to pair two of these speakers to get a stereo speaker setup.
Another notable highlight of the Sound Party is Auracast support. It's a feature of Bluetooth LE Audio, and for the speaker, it brings multi-speaker connectivity, allowing up to 100 compatible speakers to play in sync.
As for the runtime, the company claims that the 2,600mAh battery allows up to 14 hours of listening with the volume at around 40%. Another notable highlight is the IP68 water and dust resistance, making this Xiaomi speaker a good pick for outdoor adventures.
Among the other highlights are Bluetooth 6.0, USB-C charging, a built-in strap, and four color options. Xiaomi is offering the Sound Play in the EU at €49.9, which is more affordable than what the JBL Grip goes for (curr. $89.95 on Amazon).
