Affordable Redmi Buds 6 Pro launch with dual drivers, USB-C dongle, and HiFi codecs

The Redmi K80 series was the main highlight of Xiaomi's last launch event, but the company has introduced many accessories alongside the new affordable flagship phones. Among them are the Redmi Buds 6 Pro. Like the predecessors, the newly announced wireless earbuds come with a dual-driver setup.

However, the driver setup of the Buds 6 Pro is tweaked to deliver better audio performance. As the company claims, it's optimized to offer clear treble, detailed mid-range, and powerful bass. Xiaomi further adds that the new wireless earbuds can get 10% louder than their predecessors.

This dual-driver setup is complemented with support for multiple HiFi codecs. More specifically, the Redmi Buds 6 Pro support LC3 and LHDC 5.0, with the latter offering a dynamic bit rate that can scale up to 1,000 Kbps. For gamers, there's a gaming edition that comes with a USB-C dongle. With it, the earbuds bring support for LDHC Lossless and 20 ms low-latency for responsive audio.

Besides that, the Redmi Buds 6 Pro offer improved active noise cancellation (ANC) performance. Xiaomi says that the ANC mode in the new earbuds has 40% better "reduction depth" and is capable of dropping up to 55 dB of noise. In comparison, The predecessors were rated for up to 52 dB of cancellation.

The Battery life, on the other hand, has seen a slight downgrade. While the Buds 5 Pro could offer up to 38 hours of runtime with the charging case, the newer earbuds are rated for up to 36 hours with the case. The earbuds on their own can offer up to 9.5 hours of playtime (Soundcore Liberty 4 NC with up to 50 hours of battery life curr. $59.99 on Amazon).

Other notable features of the Redmi Buds 6 Pro include an AI-powered 3-microphone setup for clear calls, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, and easy touch controls. The standard version is priced at CNY 399 (around $55), while the gaming edition goes for CNY 499 (about $68) in China. Xiaomi has yet to share the global launch timeline and pricing details.
