Adaptalux Pod Mini 2: Best-selling photography accessory gets upgrade

Adaptalux has refreshed its compact macro-photography lighting hub with the Pod Mini 2.0, the first major overhaul of what the company claims is one of its best selling products. The hub connects magnetically to the brand's interchangeable LED and Xenon flash lighting arms, allowing photographers to illuminate subjects too close for the standard camera flash to reach effectively. Given how minor some of the changes are, this appears to be more of an upgrade than a genuine second generation.

The headline addition is Bluetooth control via the redesigned Adaptalux app, allowing users to adjust brightness remotely and link multiple Pod Mini and Control Pod units into one coordinated setup. The old acrylic front panel has been swapped for anodized aluminum for added durability, and darker buttons cut down on reflections in shots. Another useful fix is the option of powering the unit off entirely while retaining brightness settings, something the original model couldn't do. Battery management has also been reworked so Bluetooth doesn't drain power as quickly.

Despite these tweaks, the core hardware remains the same: a single lighting-arm port, roughly eight hours of battery life, USB-C charging and full compatibility with existing lighting arms. Android support also remains unavailable, with only iOS supported. The Pod Mini 2.0 is available globally, priced at $92.67 (not including shipping), with lighting arms and accessories sold separately.
