Ada Lovelace Next: Next generation of Nvidia GeForce graphics cards tipped for a 2025 launch
Even though most of Nvidia's Ada Lovelace-based graphics cards are out and about, some entry-level (and potentially high-end) SKUs are yet to be launched. Those looking forward to Nvidia's next generation of GPUs may have to wait a while if a report from Hardwareluxx is accurate.
A leaked roadmap from Nvidia shows that there will be no new graphics cards until 2025. Additionally, the next generation (RTX 5000 series) is called "Ada Lovelace Next". "Blackwell" is still likely the codename, as Nvidia usually refrains from using actual names in internal material.
This will be the first time in many years Nvidia strays from a two-year gap between major launches. It isn't surprising, given the current market conditions. Plenty of last-gen graphics cards are still on shelves, and the situation isn't getting any better with the current crop of underwhelming Ada Lovelace mid-rangers.
One could also attribute the delay to TSMC's ongoing troubles with its N3 node. Blackwell, like Ada Lovelace, is rumoured to use a custom 3 nm node from Nvidia, which could take a while to develop. It will be worth the wait, though, because Blackwell is slated to bring the biggest performance increase in Nvidia history, thanks to its rumoured MCM design.
