Acer unveils the TravelMate X313 Windows tablet

The new device is the latest attempt to bridge the gap between ultrabook and tablet

We've seen a lot of convertible Windows devices over the past year. Not least among them are a number of tablets with keyboard/covers like Microsoft's Surface Pro 2. The new TravelMate X313 is Acer's take on the idea.

The tablet features an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 IPS display, an Intel Core i5 3339Y processor, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 4 GB of RAM, 120 GB internal storage, a front-facing 720p camera, a back-facing 5 MP camera, 802.11 a/b/g/n wifi, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, 6 hours of battery life, an Acer pen stylus, and Dolby Home Theater V4 sound.

The X313 is remarkably similar to Sony's VAIO Tap 11, though the Acer version trades a brushed aluminium body for a lower resolution display. The keyboard is is also similar in that it is not attached to the tablet itself, though in this case it fits into a cover that can act as a stand.

The TravelMate X313 will be available in the United States and Canada later this month with prices starting at US$949.99. Assuming the keyboard is included, this will undercut both the Surface Pro 2 and the VAIO Tap 11 with similar specs.
