Acer releases new 16-inch laptop with Intel Arc B390 graphics and up to 24 hours battery life

Acer has quietly started selling a new 16-inch laptop built around Intel's Panther Lake platform. For context, the company has already released the Swift Go 16 and Swift 16 with Panther Lake processors. Of those two, we have reviewed the Swift 16 featuring the Core Ultra X7 358H with Intel's powerful Arc B390 iGPU (curr. $1,409 on Amazon).
Now, the Aspire X 16 has joined the party with the higher-end Core Ultra X9 388H. Unveiled in May, Acer initially claimed that the 16-inch laptop would arrive in July across Africa, the Middle East and Europe. We cannot find the laptop for sale in any of these markets yet. Instead, the Aspire X 16 appears to be exclusive to the US, where it costs $1,599 or $1,649 at B&H Photo Video and Acer, respectively.
Not only does the Aspire X 16 include the Core Ultra X9 388H and Arc B390, but it also includes a 2.8K OLED display and an 84 Wh battery. According to Acer, this display boasts 500 nits peak brightness in SDR mode, a 120 Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Meanwhile, the company rates the laptop for up to 24 hours of battery life in official video playback tests.
For now, the Aspire X 16 can only be configured with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Previously, Acer suggested that the laptop would be available with up to 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD though, as well as Core Ultra 5 338H and Core Ultra X7 358H processors. Regardless, the Aspire X 16 packs all this hardware into a 1.6 kg housing that measures 354.7 x 250.4 x 10.02-15.9 mm.
Incidentally, the Swift 16 can still be purchased with this processor in some markets. However, we can no longer find this variant officially for sale in the UK or the US. Nonetheless, the Aspire X 16 is 15% cheaper than the Swift 16 was when it landed in the US earlier this year with the Core Ultra X9 388H. Please see Acer's website for more details about the Aspire X 16.
