Acer Travelmate P648-M-50KW is an affordable mid-range laptop for office users or students. The Acer Travelmate series aims to deliver a laptop which is durable, secure, powerful, light and can last the whole day on its battery, probably with very minimal usage and all its sensors turned down to minimum. The chassis of the laptop is made from aluminium-magnesium (Al-MG) alloy which can withstand daily knocks and bumps. It is both strong and lightweight, therefore it is a good laptop to carry on the go. The overall design of the laptop is mostly plain and simple. There is only one colour option for this laptop which is black in colour and it looks really good. An extra feature of the laptop is Acer’s Disk Anti-Shock Protection (DASP) which protects the laptop by absorbing the shock in case of the notebook being dropped. The metal hinges between the monitor and computer are solid and long-lasting as an effort to make the laptop tougher and more reliable, which is also essential for an on-the-go-laptop. Besides that, the laptop performs faster and lasts longer with Acer DustDefender fan by periodically reversing the airflow to blow any dust that obstructs ventilation slots.
It features a power efficient Intel Core i5-6200U processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, Intel HD Graphics 520 integrated graphic adapter and 256GB solid state drive. Its specs are quite decent for a mid-range laptop. The Acer Travelmate P648-M-50KW features a 14 inch 16:9 IPS panel display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel and a pixel density of 157 ppi. It is a matte screen which reflects a lot lesser environmental lighting compared to glossy screen. Its matte screen will attract users who love using their laptops in outdoors. Besides that, it is quite resistant to fingerprints too. As for input device, Acer has built in an Acer FineTip keyboard and a multi-gesture touch pad. The keyboard is among the best keyboards available in a laptop. Its built-in webcam is capable of capturing a resolution of 1.280 x 720 pixel. It has four speakers built in for audio output. Fingerprint reader is also built into the laptop as another safer way to unlock the laptop. As for the operating system, it runs on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit but includes a Windows 10 Professional 64-bit license too. This will be very useful for people who still need Windows 7 for certain software. The laptop weighs at 1.7kg (59.97 oz / 3.75 pounds) and measures at 236mm x 22mm x 329mm. It is not the lightest and thinnest laptop but it does the job. For wireless connectivity, it features the newer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE and GPS which is an advantage because most laptops do not feature LTE and GPS connectivity. This makes the Acer Travelmate P648-M-50KW very usable as a work laptop for travellers in remote areas.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
