There are other laptops out there trying to cover the same gaming-meets-creative bases as the Triton Neo 16. The Razer Blade 16 can also double as a professional laptop while boasting serious gaming credentials. The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 overtly appeals to both groups and has a more interesting style to boot. Both also have superb OLED screens. Where the Triton Neo 16 wins, though, is that it doesn’t stand out as a gaming laptop – handy if you struggle to justify spending extra on a PC to play games – and that it’s also significantly cheaper, even if you opt for the higher spec. It’s not necessarily the best laptop in its class, but it’s undeniably great value.

The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 (PTN16-51) is a potent and thin gaming laptop. The good news is that the performance is always there when you need it. The Core Ultra 9 185H can maintain 3.30 / 2.70 GHz P and E-core frequency even during long loads and the GeForce RTX 4070 has zero problems sustaining its max possible TGP of 110W under long gaming sessions. The high FPS values on Ultra details are possible but keep in mind that the notebooks with Raptor Lake-H/HX CPUs offer higher gaming performance. However, given the thin profile of this machine, the 28W Meteor Lake chip is a logical solution. Now, the fans are loud in Turbo mode. Switching to the “Performance” presets has a good and bad side.

So, how much are you paying for one Acer Predator Triton Neo 16? The answer is an eye-watering RM9,999 – you get a decent amount of firepower in a decently lightweight chassis, but this laptop is going to need some proper polishing over its hardware and components if it wants to stay competitive in this particularly contested segment of lightweight premium gaming laptops.

While the Nitro V 16 that we tested recently only impressed us a limited amount due to its poor display, the Predator Triton Neo 16 cut a much better figure. We put the 16-inch gamer with a Meteor Lake CPU and a GeForce RTX 4070 to the test.

I’ve done my best to be even handed across this review; noting that I’m fully aware that gaming is an accessory sport, and a headset is a necessity if you’re going to be using this as your primary gaming device. Moving past that issue I had with the sound, the machine is an absolute beast. You can take a closer look at the usual bricks and mortar stores, or if you’re happy buying online; through Acer online for $3,898.00 at the time of publishing this review.

The Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 may not offer the fastest gaming or general performance in the mid-range gaming category, but it offers enough to meet the needs of most people at that price range. I’m not sure an esports professional would opt for the Predator Triton Neo 16 over a gaming laptop with better-optimized thermals, but for most gamers and content creators, it’s certainly sufficient. Where the Triton Neo 16 shines is its high-quality 240Hz IPS display and slick, AI-powered webcam. It’s also got Acer’s solid build quality and a chassis sleek enough to fit in at the office or in class without raising too many “gaming laptop” flags. It also features decent battery life, which can get through a few hours of work when away from an outlet, making it a solid choice for STEM students. And if you can find the Triton Neo 16 on sale, it is a worthy bargain. But if you’re looking for a better gaming laptop value, consider the Dell G16 (7630) instead.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
