Reviews for the Acer Liquid Jade Primo
A "pocket" computer? Acer's Jade Primo is a premium-range smartphone based on Windows 10 Mobile that can also be used as a PC thanks to the Continuum function. That also makes it a direct opponent for Microsoft's top models. The handset's wireless connections are particularly convincing, but it could be a bit more enduring.

A bright display and Windows Continuum support make the Liquid Jade Primo an affordable option for Windows phone fans, but there's not enough here to attract Android or iOS switchers.

Acer’s first Windows 10 Mobile phone, the Liquid Jade Primo, doesn’t just double down on Microsoft’s belief that your phone can replace your PC: It’s thrown down its cards, spit on the floor, and dared you to do better.

The device I was testing was a prototype and as a result I was not able to test it much further than the basic un-boxing and brief overview displayed in the video above. Once the phone gets its final release I hope to get given a full review unit which would then allow me to put it through its paces properly – including testing Continuum. The phone will be coming into stores very soon, so if you want a viable alternative to the Lumia 950’s then it is worth checking out.

The Acer Liquid Jade Primo has been a long time in the making and by the looks of it, units will finally be shipping at the end of April. More than six months since its announcement, the hardware doesn't sound top notch anymore, but the smartphone did put up a very convincing performance.

The Liquid Jade Primo won’t be the most interesting, or best-value smartphone on the market for those in the Android ecosystem. Competing phones such as the OnePlus 2 and Moto X Play offer significantly better value for money and comparatively good hardware.

Qualcomm Adreno 418: Integrated graphics card that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and DirectX 11 Feature Level 11_1 (with hardware tessellation). Compared to the Adreno 420, the performance of the 418 is about 20 percent slower (at 600 MHz).

This display is quite big for a smartphone but frequently used for smartphones.
Large display-sizes allow higher resolutions. So, details like letters are bigger. On the other hand, the power consumption is lower with small screen diagonals and the devices are smaller, more lightweight and cheaper.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.0.15 kg:
Only few smartphones are more lightweight than this.
Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.
While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.
There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.
76.16%: This rating is not convincing. The laptop is evaluated below average, this is not really a recommendation for purchase.
