As AMD’s Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs enter the latter half of their lifecycle, many users are looking towards Zen 6, the next CPU architecture from Team Red. However, Moore’s Law Is Dead is looking even further ahead, as the leaker has revealed some interesting information about Zen 8 and Zen 9 core architectures.
Yes, you read that right. MLID has leaked AMD’s CPU architectures that will, most likely, release in the 2030s. So, while these Zen 8 and Zen 9 leaks could be accurate, take the information shared by MLID with a giant grain of salt.
Moving on to the actual leak, MLID claims that the Zen 8 and Zen 9 core architectures are codenamed “Penelope” and “Nemesis”, respectively. The leaker also claims that desktop CPUs employing the Zen 8 and Zen 9 core architectures will utilize the AM6 socket, as the current AM5 platform is expected to also be compatible with the Zen 7 CPUs. Seeing the longevity of the AM4 platform, AM5 sticking around for Zen 7 won’t be surprising.
As far as Zen 7 is concerened, AMD has only confirmed that the Zen 7 CPUs will be fabbed on an unnamed “Future node”, feature a new Matrix Engine, and AI data format expansion. This is likely all we will get until after the Zen 6 CPUs hit the market in late 2026 or early 2027.
Sadly, MLID has revealed no other information regarding Zen 8 and Zen 9 CPU architectures. So, we have no indication of core counts, process nodes, projected performance, etc.
