AMD Bald Eagle Point leaks as Zen 5 APU lineup with major cache upgrade
AMD is no stranger to refreshing their laptop products. From the Ryzen 7 7735HS which still uses the Zen 3 architecture that debuted in 2020 to 2024’s Ryzen 8000 Hawk Point APUs which are Zen 4 parts, a chunk of AMD’s mobile lineup consists of old architectures manifesting in new CPUs. So, it is quite reasonable to assume that Team Red will continue this practice with the Zen 5 architecture.
Information has now appeared online claiming that AMD might release the “Bald Eagle Point” APUs as a stopgap solution between Strix Point and Medusa APUs. For the uninitiated, Strix Point APUs are Team Red’s mainstream mobile offerings with Zen 5/5c CPU cores and an RDNA 3.5 iGPU. These new APUs have been appearing in quite a few leaks with promising performance. On the other hand, “Medusa” is the codename for Zen 6.
According to leaker ThisEndsNow on X, the AMD Bald Eagle Point is a 2025 product lineup that marries Zen 5 and Zen 5c CPU cores with an RDNA 3.5 iGPU. The APUs could also have 16 MB of System Level Cache (SLC). Essentially, AMD Bald Eagle Point appears to be a refresh of the Strix Point with the SLC cache.
The leaker also thinks that Bald Eagle Point is “likely to be cancelled” if Zen 6 Medusa is ready on time. However, Medusa’s launch is seemingly linked with RDNA 5 development. So, if RDNA 5 falls behind, AMD could release Bald Eagle Point as a minor refresh of Strix Point to hold the customers till Medusa comes out.
Sadly, this is all we know about Bald Eagle Point. As such, we have no idea if the lineup is still being worked on and with what hardware specifications.
