Intel is expected to release the 15th gen Arrow Lake processors in H2 2024. Previously, leaks regarding the desktop Arrow Lake (ARL-S) CPUs suggested that the highest-end ARL-S SKU will be a 24 core (8 P-cores + 16 E-cores) config. Additionally, we’ve also heard that the Arrow Lake’s Lion Cove P-cores could bring about a 20% IPC improvement vs Intel Meteor Lake's Redwood Cove P-cores. Now, Tom from Moore’s Law Is Dead seems to confirm these reports in addition to providing some more details.
For starters, MLID alleges that ARL-S will be based on TSMC’s 3 nm process while the laptop SKUs could use Intel 20A. The leaker still maintains that, for the Lion Cove P-cores of ARL-S, Intel is “targeting a 22-34% IPC increase” over the Redwood Cove P-cores of Meteor Lake.
What’s surprising, however, is that Intel is allegedly prioritizing ARL-S over Arrow lake mobile to ensure ARL-S hits its release target in 2024. To that end, the ARL-S 24-core configuration is now the “priority” with the 14 core laptop config seemingly on the back burner.
Furthermore, Intel may have entirely canceled the mobile ARL-U. MLID provides no details as to the cause of this purported development. That said, one of MLID’s sources implied that the ARL-U might not be sorely missed as MTL mobile would be in ample supply at the time and Intel Lunar Lake “should launch in 2024 for Ultra-Thin mobile”.
We are still months away from the actual announcement let alone the release of Intel Arrow Lake CPUs. So, take the information presented here with caution as we won’t be getting any official details for a while.
