iPhone 19, iPhone 20, or even iPhone XX, analog to the iPhone X from 2017? We don't know yet, and it's probable Apple hasn't internally decided on a final name either. What seems certain is the codename under which the radically new iPhone is being developed for the 20th anniversary. According to reliable sources such as Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, it's called "Glasswing", which may already describe what we can expect.
On the path to a completely bezel-less and hole-free iPhone display, which is slated to be revealed in September 2027 according to leaked schedules, an intermediate device will likely hit the market in 2026. As emphasized just a few hours ago by another reliable leaker from China, Apple is expected to move the Face ID sensors under the display for the 2026 iPhone 18 Pro. This should only leave a punch-hole for the FaceTime camera, possibly in the upper left corner.
Bezel-less and all-display
Whether Apple manages to dramatically improve the rather inconsistent quality of already available under-display cameras, such as the one recently seen on the Nubia Z70S Ultra, remains to be seen. After all, the Californian company still has about two years to do so. However, the display without any holes won't be the only innovation of the anniversary iPhone. The display bezels are also expected to disappear, thanks to an all-display design, as the concept images below illustrate. With iOS 26 and its "Liquid Glass" look, Apple may already be taking the first steps towards its "Glasswing" hardware redesign, which would naturally appear much more appealing on a bezel-less iPhone.
Horizontal camera like on Google Pixels
The familiar appearance of the iPhone's back may also change drastically, if we consider some scattered rumors from the past. A horizontal camera design has already appeared in some iPhone 17 leaks, notably the ones that revolve around the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air. However, due to space constraints with the TrueDepth sensor array on the front, the future triple-camera setup of the Pro models will be shifted slightly lower, as the image below tries to demonstrate.
200-megapixel camera in the iPhone 20?
The video also addresses a rumor that emerged a few weeks ago, namely the switch to 200-megapixel sensors, which have been used by companies like Samsung for some time. Given that Apple's long-standing supplier Sony is also expected to introduce a larger 200-megapixel sensor soon, this rumor doesn't seem too far-fetched. Its debut could also occur in 2027, although none of this has been confirmed as of today. The same applies to the concept design shown in the video below, which still involves a great deal of speculation, and Apple’s plans could change multiple times over the next two years.
