A video uploaded to X shows a 2025 Tesla Model Y rammed from behind by a truck in China. The electric SUV absorbed most of the impact and didn't leave its lane, demonstrating its sturdiness. No injury was reported.

Tesla's sales might be declining but the sturdiness record of its wares is not in doubt. This was demonstrated recently in China when a truck rammed into a Model Y from behind on the highway, with no casualties reported.

Tesla fan Aaron Li (@boolusilan) uploaded a video of the crash, which was taken with the electric SUV's rear camera (TeslaCam). A blue JAC truck can be seen gaining on the Model Y. A split second later, the truck hits the Tesla from the right passenger side. Another larger red truck appears in the frame, apparently preventing the smaller truck from overtaking the Model Y.

A photo at the end of the video shows the accident's aftermath. The Tesla Model Y did suffer some damages but protected the occupant(s). It is noteworthy that the car was still in its lane despite the impact of the speeding truck. According to the poster, the Model Y driver was not harmed.

Tesla cars are known for their impressive safety ratings, which are due to their design and build. The carmaker uses a stiff body structure for the Model Y, allowing it to absorb shock during crashes and enhance riders' safety. The electric car won the 2024 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) after scoring the highest points in the Crashworthiness category.
