Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G, two affordable smartphones powered by different processors. Both come with 90 Hz and 1080p displays though, among other similarities.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G in India, the first entries in the Redmi 11 series. Fundamentally, the pair are the same smartphone save for two major differences. Specifically, the Redmi 11 Prime relies on the MediaTek Helio G99, a 6 nm chipset with a 4G modem. Conversely, the Redmi 11 Prime 5G utilises the MediaTek Dimensity 700, a 7 nm alternative that also has a 5G modem.

Additionally, both chipsets feature two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at 2.2 GHz, a further six Cortex-A55 cores restricted to 2.0 GHz and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Accordingly, the Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G should perform equally in most tasks, underlined by the fact that they can be configured with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage. Incidentally, the Redmi 11 Prime supports the newer Bluetooth 5.3 protocol, compared to the Bluetooth 5.1 version up to which the Redmi 11 Prime 5G is compatible.

Moreover, the pair share the same 50 MP primary and 2 MP depth rear-facing cameras. However, the Redmi 11 also has a 2 MP macro camera, plus an 8 MP front-facing camera, compared to the 5 MP alternative in the Redmi 11 Prime 5G. Separately, both feature 5,000 mAh batteries that support 18 W fast charging, along with side-mounted fingerprint scanners, a USB 2.0 Type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Furthermore, Xiaomi equips the pair with the same 6.58-inch IPS display that operates at 1080p, 90 Hz and 500 nits.

The Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G will ship with MIUI 13 based on Android 12, although it is unclear when either will be orderable. Still, Xiaomi has confirmed that the former will be available in Flashy Black, Peppy Purple and Playful Green colourways. By contrast, the Redmi 11 Prime 5G comes in Meadow Green, Storm White and Thunder Black options. Xiaomi has priced the pair as follows; a global launch is unknown at this stage:

  • Redmi 11 Prime

    • 4 GB of RAM/64 GB of storage - INR 14,999 (~US$188)
    • 6 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage - INR 16,999 (~US$213)

  • Redmi 11 Prime 5G

    • 4 GB of RAM/64 GB of storage - INR 15,999 (~US$200)
