Xiaomi has now released the Civi 5 Pro, which it has presented today in China alongside other devices like the Xiaomi 15S Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra. Replacing the Civi 4 Pro that is now over a year old, the Civi 5 Pro swaps Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset for the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 variant. Officially, the switch should generate 31% and 49% CPU and GPU performance boosts, respectively. With that being said, the Civi 5 Pro is unlikely to surpass Xiaomi's recent flagships like the Xiaomi 15 (curr. $999 on Amazon).
The new chipset is aided by LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, as well as a 6,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W wired charging. On top of that, the Civi 5 Pro finds itself with a 6.55-inch OLED produced by TCL that outputs at 1.5K with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3,200 nits peak brightness. Moreover, Xiaomi has installed the following camera hardware:
- Primary: Light Hunter 800, 50 MP, f/1.63, OIS
- Telephoto: ISOCELL JN5 50 MP, f/2.0, 60 mm equivalent focal length, 10 cm macro support, OIS
- Ultra-wide-angle: Omnivision, 12 MP, f/2.2, 15 mm equivalent focal length, 120° FoV
- Front-facing: 50 MP, Samsung JNP, f/2.0
For reference, the Civi 5 Pro weighs 184 g and is just 7.45 mm thick. Currently, the handset starts at CNY 2,999 (~$416) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Alternatively, the Civi 5 Pro can be picked up with 512 GB of storage and 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM for CNY 3,299 (~$458) and CNY 3,599 (~$500). There is no word on international availability yet, though.
