XMG's Focus 17 M25 with the RTX 5070 Ti is currently the best value gaming laptop

Nvidia's new mobile RTX 5000 graphics cards are a bit disappointing for many users, because the performance gains are often not as big as expected and especially the new RTX 5070 Laptop, which is still limited to 8 GB VRAM, caused criticism. Depending on the game, it can result in limitations (frame drops) in the QHD resolution. The new RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU turned out to be a very good choice during our reviews, because it is faster and offers more headroom for future games with 12 GB VRAM. However, the problem is the price and the cheapest option so far was the MSI Vector 16 HX, even though the default amount of RAM (16 GB) should be upgraded to 32 GB RAM.

This is where the new XMG Focus 17 (M25) comes into play. For 1849 Euros, it is equipped with the RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU, 16 GB RAM as well as a 1 TB SSD. However, there is no operating system included. When you select Windows 11 Home, the price will increase by 99 Euros, and the upgrade to 32 GB RAM is 40 Euros. This still means the Focus 17 is the most affordable gaming notebook with the new RTX 5070 Ti Laptop GPU right now.

It is the fastest version of the 5070 Ti Laptop with a TGP of 140 Watts and the graphics performance is very good. The gaming performance is slightly affected by the old Intel processor Core i9-13900HX (Core i9-14900HX is an optional upgrade for 100 Euros). The difference is not huge, but systems with the Core Ultra 9 275HX are usually a bit faster (but also more expensive in return). This does not change the fact that the gaming performance of the Focus 17 is very good and it suits the native QHD resolution really well. The IPS panel with 240 Hz refresh rate and quick response times is a good choice for gaming as well, but it clearly drops behind the rivals in terms of brightness.
