A high-quality metal chassis, similar in design to the Apple iPad Air, is a good choice for a high-end tablet designed to combine work, gaming and entertainment on a flat device. The Vivo Pad 5 Pro, which we recently reviewed, has such a chassis and looks very stylish on the front thanks to its narrow display bezels.
It can be easily twisted at the corners, but this is still reasonably acceptable for a 13-inch display. In terms of weight, it's only slightly heavier than a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ and significantly lighter than an Apple iPad Air 13, which Vivo is clearly aiming to compete with. Compromises in performance are minor: The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is a high-end SoC that offers enough power for multitasking or demanding tasks.
When it comes to software and accessories, Vivo emphasizes that the Vivo Pad 5 Pro doubles as a work device since the 3:2 screen aspect ratio is ideal for documents. Monitors can also be connected via USB cable or wirelessly, the operating system works well with a keyboard and mouse, and pen input and a keyboard cover with a touchpad are available.
A small downside for customers in most parts of the world is that the Vivo Pad 5 Pro is currently only officially available in China. Global customers can purchase the device as a direct import from TradingShenzhen, starting at around $667. Buyers have to keep in mind that their local warranty rights will not apply in the event of a claim. Read here for more information on TradingShenzhen's warranty and returns policy.
