Urban Armor Gear releases a rugged cover for Surface 3

The tough casing conforms with military durability standards and offers easy access to all the interfaces and controls.

The accessory maker Urban Armor Gear (UAG) now offers a ruggedized case for Microsoft's recently announced Surface 3 tablet. The cover is made of durable materials and features water-resistant grip to encourage outdoor usage of the tablet. It integrates its own 3-position aluminium kickstand and is fully compatible with Microsoft's Type Cover Keyboard. Easy access to all the physical ports, controls and cameras is preserved, and there's a stylus holder for the Surface Pen. The cover is claimed to meet the MIL STD 810G 516.6 drop standard.

The cover is available with either black or red textured back via UAG's site. The price is set at $70 with free worldwide shipping. While the cover won't turn the Surface 3 into a true rugged tablet similar to Panasonic's Toughpad line, it provides an affordable compromise for buyers not willing to spend a lot yet worried about their tablet's safety.
