Vivo is currently said to have an "X Fold S", or a mid-year refresh of its existing 2022 foldable flagship smartphone, in the works. Now, a famous leaker asserts that this variant is indeed on the way, and with an increased battery size compared to its immediate predecessor. It may also rock a color option not seen in the original LTPO OLED device.

Vivo could have been said to have outdone itself with its first-gen foldable smartphone, the only one in existence with fingerprint sensors set into both its cover display and main ~8-inch screen, both of which have LTPO technology on top of that.

However, the OEM is allegedly not happy with even that much of a premium flexible handset, as it is said to have an iterative upgrade that switches the X Fold's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for its mid-year update the 8+ Gen 1 in the works.

Furthermore, the S variant is also allegedly coming for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and the burgundy option it has in some markets with what Digital Chat Station calls a new "deep red" colorway.

The well-regarded tipster also now claims that Vivo will upgrade the battery solution found in the "X Fold S" to at least 4,700mAh, although its forebear already leads the industry with a 4,600mAh capacity.

The putative late-2022 refresh is also now tipped to upgrade to the OEM's 80W wired charging tech, and to charge wirelessly at 50W: a combination out of reach of even the latest top-end foldable devices. This might make the "X Fold S" impressive even in its own category - although it is unlikely to make it any cheaper.
