The Mi A1 is currently receiving a new update. This update brings the August security patch to the Xiaomi Android One phone but is likely also the last update the phone will ever get, as this is the 36th monthly patch it has gotten, making for three years of support.

The Mi A1 was launched in September 2017. Over the course of the last three years, it's received two major OS updates and consistent, timely monthly patches, keeping with the guidelines of the Android One program. The phone is now receiving yet another update.

This new update brings the August security patch to the Mi A1. The OTA bears the build designation "V10.0.24.0.PDHMIXM", denoting that it's an update for the global variant of the phone. We expect the European branch to get a similar update within the week. It is, of course, a stable beta build, so will be seeded out randomly before a full rollout. In any case, owners of the Mi A1 are already receiving the OTA.

Sadly, this may be the last update the Mi A1 ever receives. By most implications, the Android One program guarantees three years of support in total, with two major OS updates. The Mi A1 was launched in September 2017 running the August patch. The first update it received brought the September patch. This means that this new August update is the 36th update the phone has received, making it exactly three years of software support.
