TOPTON R1: A mini-PC with up to an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, SO-DIMM RAM and three video outputs
TOPTON sells many mini-PCs, but the latest version of the R1 must be its most powerful yet. Currently, the company sells the machine with either a Ryzen 5 4600H or a Ryzen 7 4800H, which have impressed us during our time with them in various laptops.
The two AMD Renoir APUs have a 45 W TDP and support Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT). The Ryzen 7 4800H has a better GPU, more cores and a higher boost clock than the Ryzen 5 4600H, but the latter is no slouch. According to our database, the Ryzen 5 4600H offers 33% better performance than the Core i7-1065G7 on average and falls 6% short of the Core i7-10750H.
Inside of the TOPTON R1 lies two SO-DIMM slots, an M.2 2230 slot for a Wi-Fi card, an M.2 2280 slot for NVMe storage and dual SATA connections. According to TOPTON, the R1 comes with an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 modem, which is linked to antennas that feed out the side of the aluminium case. Additionally, the mini-PC has six USB Type-A ports, an Ethernet connection, dedicated headphone and microphone jacks and three video outputs. Of the latter, TOPTON has included a HDMI 2.0 port, a DisplayPort connection and a USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort.
The TOPTON R1 starts at US$646.65 on AliExpress with a Ryzen 5 4600H, 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Meanwhile, a Ryzen 7 4800H model will cost at least US$761.79. TOPTON does not sell the R1 as a barebones PC, unfortunately.
