US manufacturer System76 has a broad product portfolio ranging from notebooks, desktop systems and mini PCs to servers and keyboards. The devices are designed for operation with Linux and are equipped with System76's own Linux distribution Pop!_OS as standard. The Serval WS-Notebook is now getting a hardware upgrade, with high-performance hardware aimed at scientists, gamers, engineers and developers.
The most striking new feature of the updated Serval WS notebook is the 16-inch display, which offers a high refresh rate of 240 Hz with 2560 × 1600 (16:10 format). In order to be able to utilize the high Hertz number of the screen with a sufficient number of frames per second for gaming and the like, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU (laptop) with 12 GB of DDR7 RAM is installed, which, according to System76, delivers up to 1406 TOPS.
The Serval-WS refresh utilizes an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with a total of 24 cores, divided into 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. In order to fulfil even the most demanding computing scenarios, the Linux notebook can be configured with up to 96 GB DDR5 RAM at 5600 MT/s, although the notebook is already equipped with 32 GB RAM as standard.
Furthermore, up to 12 TB of PCIe 5.0 and 4.0-based mass storage can be installed. With 2.5 GbE Ethernet, WLAN 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, the Serval-WS notebook is also bleeding edge in terms of connectivity. In addition to the in-house Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS (with full hard drive encryption), Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is also available as an operating system.
The Serval WS refresh can be purchased on System76's online shop at starting prices of $2,999 (plus shipping) with a US ANSI keyboard. Delivery is scheduled for the end of May.
