Sony has announced that it will shut down "this version" of the PlayStation Stars program. The company said it will evaluate the "key findings" from the program and look for ways, "to build upon these learnings."
Though a replacement hasn't been announced, Sony said it will look for ways "to evolve" loyalty programs in the future.
PlayStation Stars allowed players to earn points by purchasing games on the digital store or trophies through gameplay and completing campaigns. These points could be exchanged for digital collectibles or store credit. After a certain number of points, you could unlock a new tier of perks and rewards.
Sony will no longer be accepting any new memberships for the program, and if you choose to cancel your membership, you will not be eligible to rejoin it, and you will also lose all your points.
You can earn points and rewards until July 23, 2025. After July, there will be no new campaigns available or rewards. The program will be taken offline on November 2, 2026. You can still redeem any earned points until then.
The company said that the digital collectibles earned by members will still be accessible after the service shuts down.
"We want to thank all of our players for supporting PlayStation Stars since the launch in 2022. As we explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future, we'll continue to celebrate all of our players through the various community activities we have planned," said Sony in the announcement.
