Sony brings new features and improvements to another modern Xperia smartphone with Android 14 update
Sony has started updating the Xperia 10 V (curr. US$349.99 on Amazon) to Android 14, its mid-range alternative to the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 5 V. For context, the company published an equivalent update for the Xperia 1 V last week, which it is distributing as 67.1.A.2.112. By contrast, the Xperia 5 V remains on Android 13 for now, even in Sony's home market.
According to the likes of Xpericheck, Android 14 has arrived for the Xperia 10 V as 68.1.A.2.93. However, Sony has only released the update to 'XQ-DC54' at the time of publication, a variant sold in the EU and UK. Presumably, other variants like XQ-DC44 and XQ-DC72 will start receiving 67.1.A.2.112 in the next few weeks.
In a blog post, Sony explains that Android 14 adds several improvements to the Xperia 10 V, some of which it has listed in the graphic below. For example, the Xperia 10 V will be compatible with the Find My Device app once updated to Android 14 and can share/receive files with Windows devices using Nearby Share. Moreover, Sony has expanded lock screen shortcut customisation options over those that already shipped in Android 13. Please see Sony's blog post for more details.
