Sony and Nike unveil stylish PlayStation 5-inspired sneakers
The console market is big business, as is the sneaker market. So, what better way for Sony and Nike to profit from their respective successes by collaborating on the PG 5, a sneaker inspired by the PlayStation 5. The PG 5 will be available for US$120 from May 14, although we doubt for long. The sneakers will be orderable from Nike or through the Nika SNKRS app.
The PG-5 has been designed by Paul George, a seven-time NBA All-Star, and PS5 designer Yujin Morsawa. The PG 5 is fairly subtle as sneakers go, even if they contain many nods to the PlayStation 5. Each shoe mirrors the pattern found on the DualSense controller, for example, which is a nice touch.
Additionally, each pair comes with a unique hang tag celebrating George's continued partnership with Sony. It is unclear how many PG 5 sneakers Nike plans to sell, but Sony has confirmed that they will only be available in select and undisclosed regions. With that said, the PG 5 may be easier to source than a PlayStation 5 console, which remains as hard to come by as it was at launch.
