Sivga has unveiled the Que UTG wired in-ear monitors made with green sandalwood face covers on a zinc alloy body that houses a flat glass diaphragm to create a unique sound unlike other IEMs. The IEM has an MSRP of $89 and is available on Amazon.
The earphones use 10 mm drivers with ultra-thin glass diaphragms made by Taiwanese glass processor Glass Acoustic Innovations (GAIT) in collaboration with Japanese glass manufacturer Japan Electric Glass (NEG). The chemically-treated glass possesses higher rigidity than conventional paper drivers and has very low internal mass due to its thinness, which is under 0.4 mm. The glass will not easily degrade under long exposure to humidity or bass vibration, unlike paper, but is recyclable.
The drivers have a frequency response of 20 to 20 kHz with a 103 dB sensitivity and impedance of 32 ohms. The hand-polished South American green sandalwood face covers provide a bit of flair to the zinc alloy bodies. The housing has acoustic vents to help suppress resonance, and polyurethane is used in the drivers to help smooth vocals and improve bass response, according to Sivga.
The Que UTG comes with a 1.25 m (4.1 ft.) high-purity, silver-plated, oxygen-free copper cable with 49-wires weaved into a 7-strand, 7-core configuration. The Y-cable connects to the earphones with 0.78 mm 2-pin connectors and to audio sources with interchangeable 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced connectors. The earphones weigh 0.71 oz. (20 g).
