The newly introduced PS3 emulator for Android, RPCSX-UI-Android, has been updated. This new version, v20250425, brings a handful of changes. Among them are some user interface (UI) enhancements, with the latest version of the emulation software bringing a user selection function and moving the user management section under settings, possibly to streamline the navigation experience.
Another big highlight of the latest version is expanded compatibility. The PlayStation 3 emulator now has support for Android 10 or higher. Previously, the minimum requirement was Android 12 or higher. With the update, the Android PS3 emulator also got new features.
For example, there's a custom RPCSX library load setting, which should offer users more control over library management. The version v20250425 also has the option to ignore update check errors, adding flexibility for custom libraries. There are recovery mechanisms for instances when custom library installation fails.
The new version of RPCSX-UI-Android integrates a GPU driver validation system. There's support for custom hardware configurations as well.
Besides these, there are many other changes on the version v20250425, including support for parallel downloading, a visual update of the ControlPanel UI element, and architecture selection for the RPCSX updater. All these changes seem primarily focused on the core functionality of the PS3 emulator and enhancing the platform support, and it's possible that a major update is on the horizon.
