PowerColor RX 7600 XT GPUs show up in EEC database with two VRAM configurations
Moore’s Law Is Dead reported in July that AMD could wrap up the RDNA 3 generation with the launch of the RX 7700 XT and the RX 7800 XT. However, the company might have additional SKU(s) in the pipeline, as an EEC filing by PowerColor has revealed two possible RX 7600 XT GPU configurations.
First spotted by @harukaze5719 on Twitter, PowerColor’s EEC filing lists RX 7600 XT models with either 10 or 12 GB of VRAM. The SKUs include RX 7600 XT Hellhound OC and Fighter OC boards with 10 GB and 12 GB memory configs resulting in a total of four possible cards.
According to a past report by RedGamingTech, the RX 7600 XT could have 40 CU and 12 GB of VRAM which is seemingly in line with PowerColor’s filing.
Moving on, the possibility of an RX 7600 XT with 10 GB of memory presents us with a curious situation: Assuming the board does come with 10 GB of GDDR6 memory, what RDNA 3 GPU would it be based on?
At first, it seems logical that AMD would go with a Navi 33 GPU that is inside the RX 7600 non-XT. But, as mentioned by VideoCardz, doing so with 10 GB of VRAM would result in an 80 or 96-bit wide bus since each GDDR6 memory requires 32-bit data width. An 80 or 96-bit wide bus would also make the RX 7600 XT fall behind the base RX 7600 which has a 128-bit wide bus.
A more plausible scenario is that AMD might use a cut-down Navi 32 GPU inside the RX 7600 XT. Using Navi 32 would allow the RX 7600 XT to match the RX 7700 XT in memory bandwidth with 12 GB VRAM and a 192-bit wide bus. AMD could also limit the RX 7600 XT to a 160-bit bus which would still be wider than the RX 7600 non-XT.
All in all, it appears that Team Red could be gearing up to plug the gap between the US$269 RX 7600 and US$449 RX 7700 XT, giving users another option in the budget-midrange segment.
