Polar is expanding its wearable lineup with a new model called the Polar Grit X, which is already available for purchase. Specifically, the Polar Grit X2 is a feature-rich rugged smartwatch, which might be a viable alternative to the Amazfit T-Rex 3 or even Garmin Fenix 8 (from $799 on Amazon). It retails for €480 in Europe and is available directly from the manufacturer in two color options, namely "Night Black" and "Brown Copper".
The features of Polar's high-end smartwatches should be well-known. The Grit X can track workouts including the distance covered, thanks to a GNSS module with dual-band GPS support. The watch also measures heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and can be used for an ECG. A temperature sensor is included as well. For running workouts, it can measure the so-called running power, and it also offers some advanced metrics for swimming. Other training and workout programs are also available.
Furthermore, the new Polar smartwatch can display smartphone notifications and control music playback. The wearable is equipped with a 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. This screen supports always-on and utilizes an ambient light sensor. For comparison, the Grit X2 Pro has a larger 1.39-inch display. That said, the 32GB internal storage can be used to store offline maps including points of interest. Turn-by-turn navigation via Komoot is supported, while a compass and barometer can help with using traditional paper maps. More importantly, the Grit X supposedly lasts about a week on a full charge and is water-resistant down to 50 meters.
