NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 specifications leak online

The possibility of NVIDIA releasing more Ada Lovelace-based graphics cards is hotting up as CES 2023 nears. With the RTX 4080 12 GB expected to arrive during next year's conference as the RTX 4070 Ti, @kopite7kimi also alleges that NVIDIA has the RTX 4070 in development, as well as the RTX 4060 Ti. The launch of both graphics cards remains a mystery for now, but the information provided by @kopite7kimi allows us to draw comparisons between the RTX 4070 and the RTX 4070 Ti, which is rumoured to feature almost the same specifications as the cancelled RTX 4080 12 GB.

According to @kopite7kimi, the RTX 4070 relies on the AD104 GPU, mirroring the RTX 4070 Ti. NVIDIA will equip the RTX 4070 with the cutdown AD104-250 variant though; the RTX 4070 Ti is thought to offer the AD104-400. While the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti will ship with different GPU variants, they will feature identical 295 mm² dies with 35.8 billion transistors. In comparison, the RTX 4080 has a much smaller die than the RTX 4090 with considerably fewer GPU transistors.

The RTX 4070 is now also expected to contain 12 GB of GDDR6X VRAM, with the same 21 Gbps speed, 192-bit bus and 504 GB/s bandwidth as its Ti counterpart. However, @kopite7kimi alleges that NVIDIA has created the RTX 4070 with a 250 W TGP, 15 W shy of the RTX 4070 Ti. Additionally, the RTX 4070 will offer 5,888 CUDA cores, matching the RTX 3070. As VideoCardz notes, the similarities between the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti suggest that NVIDIA could release the pair simultaneously. There is no guarantee that this will be the case, though. The performance differences between the RTX 3070 and RTX 4070 will be interesting to see too, as will the latter's price-to-performance ratio.
