Minisforum claims that its N5 Pro network-attached storage (NAS) solution is now available across its Japanese, EU, Global and UK stores. Offered with $30 off when applying the discount code NAS30, the N5 Pro is actually one of two NAS products that Minisforum has released, with the other being the N5.
However, that is not an accurate representation of today's launch. Instead, the N5 and N5 Pro have been available to purchase since July 1 with AMD Ryzen 7 255 and Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APUs, respectively. In other words, the N5 Pro should be about as powerful as Minisforum's AI X1 Pro that we reviewed earlier this year (curr. $999 on Amazon).
As far as we can tell, Minisforum has quietly updated its N5 and N5 Pro SKUs while pushing shipment dates to September 15. For instance, one cannot currently configure the N5 as a barebones unit. At the time of writing, the N5 now starts at $645, before applying the discount code NAS30, with 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, rather than the previously listed 64 GB of storage.
Similarly, Minisforum has dropped 64 GB of storage as an option for the N5 Pro in favour of 128 GB drives. Moreover, the barebone unit is now priced at $1,019 rather than $1,039. Although the entry-level pre-configured option is listed as being out of stock, Minisforum's 48 GB ECC DDR5 RAM variant is now $3 less than previously at $1,308. Conversely, Minisforum has increased the cost of its 96 GB RAM option from $1,583 to $1,597 without explanation. Please see Minisforum's website for more details.
