Honor has expanded the availability of its Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 rival, the Magic V5. The folding smartphone, which is touted to be the thinnest book-style foldable phone, is now available in Western Europe, with a starting price of £1,699.99 or €1,999.
The folding phone is available in Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown colorways. Among them, the Ivory White model has a thickness of just 8.8 mm when it's in the folded state. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, in comparison, measures 8.9 mm when it's not in the unfolded state.
While it has a slim form factor, Honor claims that the Magic V5 makes no compromises in terms of performance and photography. As for the former, the folding phone comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the current flagship SoC from Qualcomm.
Regarding the camera setup, the Magic V5 sports a 50 MP primary camera with OIS, which is paired with a 50 MP ultrawide and a 64 MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom. On the front, the foldable phone has a 20 MP selfie shooter, and there are many AI-powered features that promise to enhance captured images.
In terms of the displays, the Honor Magic V5 features a 6.43-inch outer display, while the internal screen is a 7.95-inch panel. Both have a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness rating of 5,000 nits.
A 5,820 mAh battery with 66 W fast charging powers the internals of the phone (22.5 W portable Iniu 10K power bank curr. $20.69 on Amazon), and there's support for 50 W wireless charging. Other highlights include IP58 and IP59 ratings, MagicOS 9.0 out of the box, and Multi-Flex mode for running three apps at the same time.
