Lenovo IdeaPad 500 is a complete multimedia laptop for users that need a little bit of everything. It does have a powerful hardware inside but lacks in a few important sectors like the average display and battery backup. If features like the RealSense and the JBL speakers coupled with Dolby audio can cover up for what it lacks, this one is definitely worth considering, given its attractive selling price.

The Lenovo Ideapad 500 has enough performance for solid multitasking; a great, responsive keyboard to enable your productivity; and Intel RealSense, which offers a few interesting capabilities now, with more possible in the future. While its display and hard drive speeds aren't ideal, the Ideapad 500's biggest drawback is its short battery life, which detracts from the machine's portability.

Model: Is it a business laptop or multimedia laptop? Maybe that is the question that a possible buyer wants to be answered. What we have here is a device with potential. Having an Intel Core i5-6500U processor with AMD Radeon R7 M360 graphics card supported by 8 GB RAM and a 1 TB HDD, it can handle your daily office tasks as well as some gaming thanks to a Radeon graphics card. But you should not expect a great gaming experience. If you want to play some old games or maybe some online games, this is possible.
As expected from all Lenovo devices, this model also has a good keyboard, but it should not be compared with a ThinkPad keyboard. Typing feels good and the key feedback is convincing. Talking about multimedia, what we see here is a nice, matte Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS screen with good contrast ratio and viewing angles. The screen bezel is kept a bit too thick in our opinion, since it takes up to much space. However, this is something you can get used to. Even though the surface is all plastic, it does not feel cheap, since it look like brushed aluminum.
This laptop weighs about 2.3 kg. Thus it is not very mobile. In addition, there is only a 4-cell battery, which can provide 4 hours of usage at its best; not something we would want to see in a mobile companion. Another thing to consider is its choice of storage. A good-old HDD with 1 TB storage is what used here. Is it enough for regular user? Sure. But if you want fast opening times and shorter response times, you will have to switch to an SSD disk. Since there is only one 2.5-inch slot, you will have to give away the large 1 TB HDD.
Besides the good screen, the sound system is another good aspect of this laptop. A JBL sound system makes for premium sound output and you get your money's worth in this aspect.
Since the device does not have any business features and lacks a powerful processor, we can certainly say it is for multimedia usage. You can watch videos, surf online and at least play some not so demanding games.
HDMI and VGA allow connecting external screens. In addition, there is a DVD writer. Although it might be considered outdated, it could still be useful for some users.
Before you consider buying this model, what you have to think about is your type of usage. If you are thinking of a laptop which you are going to leave at a place such as your desk or TV unit for instance and don't need much of a connectivity besides a screen output and a few USB ports, then this device is for you. You can do your work, watch movies on your TV etc. But if you plan to be mobile and need better connectivity, you are better off looking at other models.

AMD Radeon R7 M360: Entry level to mid range dedicated GPU based on a new GCN 2.0 / 1.2 chip in 28nm. Supports DirectX 12, Vulcan and FreeSync.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6500U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.
In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.
In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.
