MWC 2022 | Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i unveiled in two display sizes with an optional OLED panel, Intel Alder Lake processors and an Iris Xe Max dedicated GPU
Lenovo has announced the IdeaPad Flex 5i, a sibling of the IdeaPad Flex 5 and IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook. Predictably, the IdeaPad Flex 5i and IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook have similar hardware, including Pentium 8505, Core i3-1215U and Core i5-1235U processors. However, the IdeaPad Flex 5i has a few advantages over the IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook, including the availability of a 16-inch screen size. The IdeaPad Flex 5i will be available as a 14-inch version as well, though.
In saying that, Lenovo will offer the IdeaPad Flex 5i with a Core i7-1255U processor too, along with an Iris Xe Max dedicated GPU option. As the specification sheet below shows, Lenovo plans to sell several memory configurations for the IdeaPad Flex 5i, including one with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Moreover, all models will feature the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm combined headphone/microphone jack
- 1x 4-in-1 card reader
- 1x HDMI 1.4b port
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port
IdeaPad Flex 5i: 14-inch
Additionally, the IdeaPad Flex 5i will come with five display options, split three for the 14-inch version and two for the 16-inch edition. For some reason, Lenovo will only offer an OLED display with the 14-inch model. By contrast, all 16-inch editions must make do with IPS panels. It is worth noting that Lenovo rates OLED display configurations for at least 2 hours less than their IPS counterparts.
The IdeaPad Flex 5i will be available from June 2022 in the Eurozone and from next month in North America. Lenovo has confirmed that the 14-inch will start at €499, with the 16-inch version coming in at €699, €200 more expensive than its 14-inch counterpart. Incidentally, Lenovo has produced Cloud Grey, Storm Grey and Stone Blue versions of the 14-inch model. In comparison, the company will restrict the IdeaPad Flex 5i 16-inch to Cloud Grey and Storm Grey.
