Following a report that Lego plans to release a SEGA Genesis Controller, the said controller has now appeared on the Lego France website. The new Lego set is a recreation of the classic game controller and even includes a nod to Sega's mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog.
Officially called the Lego Sonic the Hedgehog Sega Genesis Controller, the 260-piece set is an ode to the retro controller and makes for a great gift for a gamer friend. Perfect as a room decor, the Lego Sega Genesis Controller can be displayed in two ways. In addition to the controller front, the back has a miniature Green Hill Zone from the Sonic video games.
Lego has included a stand as well as regional stickers in the box for customization. The set is compatible with the Lego Builder app which allows users to check building instructions, view and rotate or zoom models in 3D, and track building progress. When completed, the set measures 15 × 10 × 3 cm (5.5 × 3.5 × 1 in.).
The Lego Sonic the Hedgehog Sega Genesis Controller has a price tag of €19.99 (~$23.29) which is slightly cheaper than the 8BitDo M30 Bluetooth controller (available on Amazon for $24.99) modeled after Sega's 6-button controller. Unfortunately, the Lego set is “Not currently available” according to the product page.
