Earlier today, we reported that Honor had teased more details about the Magic V5 before the device's full unveiling on July 2. For context, the company suggested that the Magic V series would jump from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, unlike the upcoming Vivo X Fold5. Nonetheless, it also claimed that the Magic V5 would be the world's thinnest and lightest book-style foldable around when it officially debuts.
Now, Honor has showcased the Magic V5 in the flesh, albeit with a protective housing covering half of the device. Exhibited at MWC Shanghai 2025 in a rather unconventional manner, the Magic V5 was compared against objects like a one CNY coin and an S Pen. For reference, the S Pen that Samsung designed for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is about 4.35 mm thick (curr. $15.49 on Amazon).
Based on this image alone, it would seem that Honor has managed to shave a bit off the thickness of the Magic V3 that comes in at 4.35 mm in its thinnest form. A recent Digital Chat Station post reinforces this, during which they claim that the Magic V5 will be 8.93 mm thick when closed. Assuming 0.5 mm for bezels would result in approximately 4.2 mm thickness when opened, which is right in line with the Oppo Find N5.
However, that would only see the Magic V5 matching the Find N5 rather than undercutting it, as Honor insists. Similarly, Digital Chat Station reports that Honor's next flagship will weigh 219 g. While that would be a 7 g drop from the Magic V3, it would see the Magic V5 falling short of the Vivo X Fold5's projected weight.
