Helldivers 2 has reportedly sold nearly 1 million units on Xbox in just 6 days, eclipsing its PlayStation launch

Arrowhead Game Studio's Helldivers 2 has finally arrived on Xbox as the first PlayStation exclusive game to make its way to Microsoft's platform. In an unexpected twist, the game has sold more copies on Xbox compared to its own PlayStation launch as per an analytics firm tracking the first 6 days of sales.

According to the latest Alinea Analytics Insight Newsletter, Helldivers 2 sold 926,000 copies on Xbox within the first six days of launch on August 26, 2025, pretty much outpacing PlayStation 5’s 633,000 copies moved following its debut on February 8, 2024, a staggering near 50% higher sales figure on Microsoft’s gaming platform.

This is a particularly remarkable feat because the launch comes nearly a year and a half after the game was released on PS5 and PC. The game’s release on Xbox marked a monumental moment in gaming history as PlayStation and Xbox exchanged first-party exclusives. Gears of War: Reloaded, for its part, also launched on PlayStation but managed to sell 259,000 copies within the first six days, a far cry from Helldivers 2’s much stronger showing. 

This propelled Helldivers 2 to the top of Xbox’s paid games list, with the Standard Edition claiming the number one spot, and the premium Super Citizen Edition claiming third place, alongside titles like NBA 2K26, and EA Sports Madden NFL 26.

The game also enjoyed a staggering 500,690 concurrent players across all platforms after its release on Xbox, with Steam figures peaking at 167,795 concurrent players, the highest recorded figure in the game’s history.

Further contributing to the game’s success on Xbox is the inclusion of the Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond, which was released along with the Xbox launch. Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt stated Sony played a big part in the game’s port, commenting, “Send their thanks to Sony since the port was ‘all PlayStation’

Helldivers 2 has been a force of nature in the games industry ever since its release. Analysts estimate that the game has sold over 18 million copies, including 12 million on PC, 5 million on PS5, and now almost 1 million on Xbox.

The game moved a mammoth 12 million copies in the first 12 weeks of its launch on both PS5 and PC, making it PlayStation’s fastest-selling game of all time, even beating God of War: Ragnarok’s record.
