Google seems determined to make its own Pay app the main equivalent of Apple Pay on Android. To this end, it has secured support for the often-contactless method from a number of additional banks in 9 countries worldwide. Most of them are located in Switzerland.

Google Pay may have become indispensible for many users at the height of the pandemic. Nevertheless, its worldwide availability remains incomplete, which might be antagonizing for some with compatible devices and the inability to use them. However, some might have come into a solution at last.

Banks in 9 new countries are now listed as capable of offering Google Pay to their account-holders. In the majority of cases, there is only 1 per new nation:

  • Airwallex Pty Ltd (Australia)
  • Alpha Bank (Greece)
  • Cassa Centrale Banca (Italy)
  • Cencosud (Chile)
  • DiPocket (Bulgaria and Romania)
  • Joint Stock Company OKCI Bank (Ukraine)
  • CIMB (Singapore)

In addition, users from the last on the list may also find the "peer-to-peer payments" potions in the app is active, a function only heretofore open to US users. Switzerland is also included in this roll-out, with a count of newly Google Pay-compatible banks that inflates its number to nearly 80.

However, many of them are different branches of the same branch, meaning that there are multiple entries for institutions such as Spar- und Leihkasse in evidence. The list edited for duplicates looks more like this:
