Mobvoi, for one, has announced a fresh app update many more of its newer and higher-end wearables. This latest version of WearOS (2.0) expands the eligibility to use Pay (new interface and all) to users in more countries. The update also unlocks Messages on a watch's screen in full, as well as Tiles for apps such as Spotify.

Mobvoi is just 1 brand with a new software update for up-to-date products such as the TicWatch E3 and Pro 3. It may not quite be the hotly-awaited WearOS 3, although this possible intermediary OTA still imparts some potentially crucial functionality to many more users.

This is because Google has expanded the availability of Pay for wearables via WearOS 2. The updated app now works as intended in the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Taiwan, Sweden, Slovakia, the Republic of Ireland, Norway, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Finland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Croatia, Chile, Brazil and Belgium. Its new UI also makes things like on-wrist card selection easier.

Therefore, many watches with WearOS and NFC stand to benefit from the update. It also unlocks on-wrist Google Messages, which enables writing as well as reading on the health-focused smartwatches. WearOS 2 is also the update that finally brings third-party Tiles (something Samsung also touted as a bonus during the Galaxy Watch4 unveiling).

They have already been completed by developers for popular apps such as Strava and Spotify. However, they may not become available for a couple of weeks. By this time, they may also arrive on watches from other brands, Fossil and OPPO included.
