GoPro Hero 12 Black: eBay listing reveals retail packaging as more promotional images leak
Igor Bogdanov and Roland Quandt have revealed new pictures of the Hero 12 Black, GoPro's next action camera. Not only has Bogdanov shared unseen promotional pictures of the Hero 11 Black successor, but he has also shared various photos of Hero 12 Black retail packaging. While Bogdanov has not provided a source for the new information, Quandt has now confirmed that they originate from an eBay listing.
Although the original eBay listing has since ended, the same eBayer is now selling the Hero 12 Black for US$599.99, roughly US$150 and 33% higher than the camera's expected retail price. At any rate, two people have already picked up early Hero 12 Black units, with another two listed as being available at the time of writing. For reference, you can view the eBay listings on the Wayback Machine via the links below if they are pulled.
In short, the packaging confirms earlier leaks insofar as that the Hero 12 Black will feature minimal changes from last year's model. As the images below show, the Hero 12 Black will be capable of capturing HDR photos and videos natively, unlike its predecessor. Additionally, GoPro has included an updated version of its Hypersmooth video stabilisation software, which has now reached v6.0.
This year's GoPro still shoots 27 MP photos and up to 5.3K/60 FPS videos though, among other similarities with its predecessor. Currently, GoPro is rumoured to have lined up a September 13 release for the Hero 12 Black, a day after Apple releases new products at its Wonderlust event.
