It looks like Garmin is finalising v17.xx development for the Fenix 8, Tactix 8 and other related smartwatches. Arriving shortly after Beta Version 17.23, Beta Version 17.25 is said to fix two notable bugs that could cause system crashes in activities.

Garmin has released another update for the Fenix 8, Fenix 8 Solar, Fenix E, Tactix 8 and Enduro 3 (curr. $899.99 on Amazon) on its Beta Program. Arriving shortly after Beta Version 17.23, Beta Version 17.25 is the eleventh build in this beta cycle.

In short, Beta Version 17.25 focuses on improving overall stability rather than adding new features. Specifically, the new update should resolve two crash scenarios that could occur on previous v17.xx builds. On the one hand, Beta Version 17.25 is said to fix a crash that could happen when exiting the Custom Multisport Activity menu before finishing creating a custom multisport activity.

On the other hand, Garmin believes it has resolved the issue that caused a crash when viewing Activity Settings from the Main Menu instead of the Activity Stage Page. However, as with other 17.xx beta releases, Garmin has distributed Beta Version 17.25 with Aviation, ECG and Dive features disabled. Therefore, it seems that v17.xx is not yet ready for a stable rollout and that we should expect to see additional beta updates before this occurs.

In a forum post, Garmin clarifies that Beta Version 17.25 should have reached all eligible smartwatches as an over-the-air (OTA) update. If your smartwatch has not received a notification to download the new update, you can manually trigger its installation by navigating through Menu, System and Software Update on your smartwatch before tapping 'Check for Updates'.
