Garmin Forerunner 570: Major leaks reveal picture, pricing and specs for cheaper Forerunner 970 alternative ahead of schedule
Lately, plenty of evidence has emerged that Garmin is preparing to release a fresh batch of mid-range smartwatches. Initially, there were rumours that the Forerunner 975 would be next up. However, subsequent indications suggested that this would actually fall on the Forerunner 970, which was tipped to launch alongside a cheaper Forerunner 270.
Amidst all these rumours of new Forerunner smartwatches, Garmin itself indicated it was preparing LTE versions of the Fenix E, Fenix 8 and other high-end smartwatches, as well as a new Fenix 8 spin-off. Now, it looks like a completely different smartwatch by the name of the Forerunner 570 is in line for release before all of these other models.
To date, precious little has actually been revealed about the Forerunner 270, Forerunner 970 or Forerunner 975. By contrast, a picture, specifications and retail listings pertaining to the Forerunner 570 have simultaneously emerged online. Dealing with the picture first, the Forerunner 570 carries over the five-button layout of recent Forerunner smartwatches like the Forerunner 265 (curr. $339 - renewed on Amazon).
Similarly, there will be two Forerunner 570 sizes, this time 42 mm and 47 mm, compared to 42 mm and 46 mm for the Forerunner 265. Both sizes should ship with AMOLED displays, fibre-reinforced polymer cases, and aluminium bezels. Conversely, the larger model is expected to feature a day longer battery life in smartwatch mode at 11 days and an extra hour of GPS multi-band battery life at 14 hours.
The pair are believed to contain Garmin's Elevate V4 sensor array as well. Currently, Italian retailer Capo Nord reports that the Forerunner 570 will retail for €549 (~$615) regardless of whether you opt for its 42 mm or 47 mm variant. The retailer indicates that all variants should be available this summer too, although FitnessTrackerTest asserts that a spring 2025 launch is on the cards.
