The ice-cold strategy game Frostpunk 2, in which players are confronted with snowstorms and politics instead of hostile armies, has mainly received bug fixes since its Steam launch on September 20th. Now, the developers have unveiled their future plans for the game in an announcement on Steam — a console version will be released next year. Whether this will only be offered for the PlayStation 5 (from $424 on Amazon) and the Xbox Series X, or also for the Nintendo Switch 2, is not yet known.
PC and Mac players, on the other hand, can still look forward to the version 1.2 update before the end of this year. It will bring numerous gameplay and interface changes to Frostpunk 2. Further details about version 1.2 are expected soon, while a major content update is planned for next year. Anyone who bought the Frostpunk 2 Deluxe Edition will receive these three planned expansions at no extra cost.
11 Bit Studios has now confirmed that the first two of these expansions, codenamed "Spectrum" and "Aurora", will be released in 2025, while the third won't become available until 2026. The developers don't want to reveal any details about the expansions yet, but claim that each DLC will introduce something fundamentally new. Frostpunk 2 is available on Steam for $44.99, the soundtrack for $3.99. The Deluxe edition, which includes the soundtrack, access to all expansions and a bunch of other goodies is available for $74.99.
